Meet the Artist

My journey into bead making began in 2001 when I purchased a beginner's bead making kit online. I taught myself using books and any information I could find on the internet. Once my skills improved I upgraded my equipment. As time went on I became more obsessed with the craft.  Soon my work station was moved from a little corner in the garage to my own little studio at home.

I use Moretti, TAG104 and Double Helix glasses for my beads.  I have a minor torch which is an oxygen/propane mix torch to create my beads.  Rather than using your typical oxygen set up for my torch I use an oxygen concentrator; this is similar to the oxygen machines you commonly see is hospitals.  All of my beads go straight into the kiln from the flame of my torch and are properly annealed.  After the lampwork beads come out of the kiln I dremel clean the holes to remove excess bead release.   I do all of the silver coring on my beads myself using sterling silver tubing.   My silver core beads are tumble polished prior to shipping.

Over the years I have sold on different on line venues including Artfire, Zibbet, Etsy and eBay as well as a few local shops.

My son, Parker, is a freshman at the University of South Carolina this year.  I'm now in a new stage of my life...no longer the wrestling mom or booster club volunteer.  This free time will allow me more time for my crafting.  I've got a few little home projects to complete now that my son is out of the house but already I am finding more studio time and building up my inventory on Artfire.

My husband, Stephen Singleton, is in the lumber industry and was named Man of the Year 2010 by Timber Processing Magazine.

We live out in the country with a 70 acre track behind our house.  My husband and son enjoy deer, duck and quail hunting on our land.  My husband also likes to play on his tractor, maintaining the trails, fields and food plots for wildlife.  I enjoy the early morning walks with our 4 dogs out in the country.  We have two pointers, an English Pointer and a German Shorthair Pointer, as well as a "Pointing Lab".  I enjoy watching the dogs work the woods and the fields as we go on our morning walks.  Our fourth dog, a fourteen year old Jack Russell Terrier, enjoys the walks as well but she must walk on a leash with me because she never learned to come when called.  She comes when she's good and ready and only then.

Making lampwork beads just never gets old.  I was I had discovered it years ago.  I am a self-representing artist and a member of SRA.  My SRA membership number is S106.  I encourage people to buy lampwork beads from SRA members.  By doing so you know you are supporting the work of independent artisans and not purchasing factory made beads.

You can find my beads online in my Artfire  studio and Etsy shop.  To email me just click here.
